To demonstrate the benefits of Vanisperse LI in silicon anodes, Borregaard has worked closely with Norway’s Institute for Energy Technology (IFE). The results indicate improvement in both capacity and cycle life when including Vanisperse LI as a dispersant in the electrode formulation.
We evaluated Vanisperse LI in combination with CMC as a binder in lithium-silicon half cells. The figure below shows the results of cycle life testing. By using a combination of 5% CMC and 10% Vanisperse LI in the anode formulation, a 25% greater specific capacity could be achieved compared to the use of CMC alone.
