Field trial: BioKeram T – Performance in very wet clays

This field trial shows that the addition of 0.2% of BioKeram T effectively increases the stiffness of very wet clay.

External clay stockpiles in wet conditions can have moisture content beyond the workability limit of the process equipment. BioKeram T is a tailor-made additive for these very wet clays. It increases consistency at the same moisture content, facilitating workability.

We conducted a plasticity test, based on the Pfefferkorn method, to show that the addition of 0.2% of BioKeram T effectively increases the stiffness of very wet clay.

The graph below shows that with BioKeram T, the height contraction versus moisture content shifts to the right compared to the control. This indicates that the addition of only 0.2% of BioKeram T reduces the height contraction ratio and thus increases clay paste consistency at the same moisture content.
