Advanced bioethanol

Bioethanol from Borregaard is derived from Norway Spruce, by utilising waste generated from lignocellulosic production. It is a highly sustainable alternative to synthetic ethanol.

From the tree, we produce advanced cellulosic products, lignosulfonates and hemicellulose. The hemicellulose is degraded to sugars. Non-fermentable sugars end up in our lignin product raw material, while fermentable sugars are converted to ethanol.
