Case study: Borregaard clay conditioners mitigate cracks in roof tile production

The case study shows reduced power consumption at the extruder, shrinkage while drying was much smoother and more linear (as per Bigot curve), and cracks decreased from >7% to almost nil.

The clay used in this plant was of low plasticity. The addition of other additives intended to make the clay more plastic led to several cracks in the final roof tiles.
