Development agreement - borregaard and billerudkorsnäs

Borregaard and BillerudKorsnäs have entered into a development agreement where BillerudKorsnäs wish to run full scale tests of packaging products containing micro fibrillated cellulose (MFC). Borregaard’s new Exilva MFC plant is well positioned and has sufficient capacity to support BillerudKorsnäs in this development.

- Borregaard welcomes this cooperation with BillerudKorsnäs.  Our Exilva MFC products have excellent strength and barrier properties and should hence be good materials for BillerudKorsnäs to further develop their position as a world leader in sustainable packaging solutions. We further believe this cooperation will bring new learning with respect to understanding our product properties better, which should be valuable in our market development work in other application areas, says Pål Romberg, Excecutive Vice President Exilva.

Borregaard has used more than 10 years to develop the Exilva MFC technology and is the first company in the world to commercialise MFC through its new 1000 tonne plant which started in Q3 this year.
