Vanisperse CB dispersant performance
Borregaard lignin biopolymer wets and disperses carbon black in water.
The optimum dispersant dosage of Vanisperse® CB for carbon black, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, zinc oxide and calcium carbonate dispersions is calculated empirically by measuring the minimum Brookfield viscosity of stable dispersions.
The final dispersion\'s viscosity varies with dispersant dosage for different substrates as shown in the below graphs. Reduced milling times and higher loading both serve to lower manufacturing costs.
VANISPERSE CB FOR CARBON BLACK
As shown in this graph, excellent viscosity levels can be reached with Vanisperse CB when you have optimised the dosage for the type of carbon black used. High structure carbon blacks, with high surface areas require much higher dispersant dosages than low structure carbon blacks.
VANISPERSE CB FOR PIGMENTS
Vanisperse CB works well to disperse materials like titanium dioxide, iron oxide, zinc oxide or calcium carbonate. Dosages of ~0.5% to ~2.0% can achieve low initial viscosity at high slurry concentrations. As with carbon black substrate, the optimal dosage needs to be determined.
How Vanisperse CB works
Vanisperse CB functions both as grinding aids and dispersion stabiliser. It improves fluidity at high carbon black concentrations.
