Our sustainable lignin-based dispersants can be used in a wide range of formulation types.
GROW GREEN WITH OUR BIO-BASED CO-FORMULANTS

Documented LOWER co2 footprint
Borregaard carries out third-party verified Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to document our products' environmental impact from raw materials to finished goods.
The LCAs show that our products have lower climate footprints and provide better environmental performance than the alternatives.

compatible with microbials
Our bio-based co-formulants are microplastic-free, safe to use and compatible with biologicals. This offers benefits in a range of agricultural applications such as crop protection, plant nutrition, biocontrol and seed coating. Formulate your biologicals with Borregaard's
dispersants and binders:
- Improve anti-settling, structure and rheology of suspensions.
- Boost UV protection.
SUSTAINABILITY FAQS
-
Do you have product carbon footprints of your products available?
Yes, Borregaard’s Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) show that our products have a low environmental footprint compared to synthetic alternatives. Our LCAs are 3rd party verified, and we provide publicly available environmental data, including the product carbon footprint in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). In addition, we can investigate the emissions from the specific transportation of our products to your facilities. And if you are curious of a comparison of a specific co-formulant, we might have it readily available. Lower your emission with Borregaard as supplier - contact us to learn more.
-
Are Borregaard products microplastic-free?
Yes, according to the restriction of microplastics in the EU, Regulation (EU) 2023/2055, our lignin biopolymers and cellulose fibrils are not microplastics.
-
Are your products non-toxic?
Yes, Borregaard’s products are non-toxic. They are bio-based, harmless and safe to handle. They are sourced from sustainably managed forest, a GMO-free source, that do not compete with agricultural land or food or feed production. Thus, they are organic farming eligible and compatible with microorganisms. Contrary to synthetic products, Borregaard’s products contain only elements contributing to plant life and soil health, like organic carbon, sulfur and carbohydrates.
-
Why are your raw materials sustainable?
Borregaard source wood certified according to PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) or FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) standards. Wood is sourced from forests that are managed according to sustainable forestry principles. This includes maintaining biodiversity, protecting wildlife habitats, ensuring the long-term health of forest ecosystems, and avoiding conversion and deforestation. Borregaard keeps engaging with organisations and forest owners to ensure that sustainable forestry principles are followed. Suppliers must have valid Chain of Custody (CoC) certifications under FSC® or PEFC. This ensures that the wood comes from responsibly managed forests. 100% of Borregaard’s sourced wood is FSC® Controlled wood, and in total 95% of our wood is certified in accordance with PEFC or FSC®. Our target is to achieve 100% certified wood.

How does EUDR impact you?
Starting 30 December 2025, the EUDR will impact businesses dealing with seven key commodities: cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soy, and timber. The EUDR repeals the EU Timber Regulation which Norway ratified. Borregaard is working on how to implement the Regulation and will be compliant with the EUDR requirements within the adaptation period.

Watch our products performance:
How to disperse Exilva:
Exilva F 01-L (2% gel) can be dispersed without high shear, but it takes a little more than hand-mixing. We recommend at minimum using an overhead stirrer at 400+ rpm for 15-30 minutes to make a fully homogenous dispersion of Exilva F 01-L in your formulation.
Exilva F 01-V (10% paste) needs to be dispersed with high shear mixers such as a rotor-stator, an overhead mixer equipped with a cowles blade, or an in-line homogenizer, for example.
