BIO-BASED Raw material
Our production relies on raw materials from sustainably managed forests. Part of our wood-based raw materials are sourced from side streams from saw mills such as wood chips. This contributes to a resource-efficient value chain where almost nothing goes to waste.
This approach supports both responsible forest management and the transition to bio-based, low‑carbon products.
Sourcing responsibly
Wood is a key raw material for Borregaard, as our business model focuses on delivering sustainable solutions based on renewable raw materials and the full utilisations of all components of the tree.
We are a significant buyer of forest raw materials, sourcing wood directly from responsible forestry operations in Scandinavia and residuals from saw-mills. These forests are all controlled and certified in accordance with PEFC and FSC.
Biorefinery concept
A biorefinery is a system that sustainably processes biomass (such as wood, agricultural residues, or organic waste) into a range of valuable products like biofuels, chemicals, materials, and energy. It aims to maximize the value of raw inputs by efficiently using all components of the biomass.
