Improved water stability and production throughput in extruded fish feed: field results

A European carp feed producer evaluated Intact Aqua in a sinking extruded fish feed. The trial demonstrated significant improvements in water stability while maintaining pellet quality and increasing production throughput

Key takeaways:

  • Water stability after 4 hours increased from 62.2% for the control feed to 76.7% with 0.25% Intact Aqua and 80.2% with 1.0% Intact Aqua.
  • Production throughput increased by 10% at 0.25% inclusion and 7.5% at 1.0% inclusion.
  • Pellet durability remained high, with PDI above 96% for all treatments.

Additional results

In addition to improving water stability, Intact Aqua enabled higher production rates without compromising pellet quality. Increased throughput can help feed producers improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce production costs.

Water stability method

Pellets were immersed in water for 4 hours. Remaining dry matter was collected, dried, and expressed as a percentage of the initial pellet dry matter.
