Kiilto has launched the world’s first laundry powder that replaces fossil-based ingredients with lignin – a biopolymer derived from Norway spruce by Borregaard. The result: a significantly lower carbon footprint and improved cleaning performance.
By using LignoBrite, a 100% bio-based and upcycled1 ingredient, Kiilto replaces traditional fossil-based substances like polyacrylates in professional laundry solutions for workwear, restaurant textiles and hospital linens.
“LignoBrite gives superior cleaning performance while significantly reducing carbon emissions compared to conventional synthetic ingredients,” says Tomi Peltonen, RDI Manager leading the development of the new Kiilto Pro Textile Wash products with LignoBrite at Kiilto.

LignoBrite is a novel innovation produced by Borregaard in Sarpsborg. It is a bio-based and biocircular2 dispersant and complexing agent derived from lignin, a natural polymer found in wood. LignoBrite replaces synthetic polymers in cleaning products and enhances cleaning performance by preventing redeposition, spotting, and filming on surfaces. It can be used in cleaning applications, from laundry to auto dishwashing and industrial cleaners.
