Supplier to the pharmaceutical industry
Borregaard Synthesis has a leading position as a supplier of advanced intermediates, X-Ray Contrast Media (XRCM) intermediates, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and specialty excipients ("carriers") for several important medicines. This includes new drugs for the treatment of asthma, thrombosis, lowering cholesterol, and antiviral medicines (e.g. anti-HIV) and antidepressants.
The products are produced in modern and flexible plants in Norway by highly competent personnel.
Investments in R&D and pilot plants
Borregaard has established collaborative relationships with several pharmaceutical companies and has assignments related to a range of projects in the development phase. The commitment is long-term, and several years of research and development in close cooperation with customers is the reason for the high value and processing degree of the products.
Central to this commitment is the company's significant pilot capacity in connection with the research and development department. The pilot plants are used in the upscaling of production processes from laboratory scale to full production. The pilot plants have the capacity and flexibility to deliver products in smaller quantities for use in the customers' product and market development.
Diphenols
Borregaard Synthesis also supplies diphenols and diphenol derivatives that are used in a broad spectrum of chemical compounds in the production of photo and agricultural chemicals and other industry products.
