Print/ Tip

Strong innovation efforts increase the value added to our customers. Innovation is the process of generating and implementing new ideas and solutions increasing the value added to our customers.

Borregaard owns and operates the world's most advanced biorefinery. By using natural, sustainable raw materials, the company produces advanced and environmentally friendly biochemicals, biomaterials and bioethanol that can replace oil-based products.

Chemistry is an important contributor to solving many of the challenges the world faces today in resource consumption, health and the environment. Many of the materials that surround us in everyday life are chemical products, often made from petroleum-based raw materials. In recent decades there has been much focus on the fact that oil is a non-renewable resource and that the combustion of fossil materials contributes to the emission of greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change.

Sustainable manner

Materials and chemicals, in addition to fuel ethanol and biodiesel can be produced from renewable raw materials which are harvested in a sustainable manner. Borregaard manufacture a range of products from wood that does not compete with food production – second generation products.

A long-standing research and development has resulted in solutions that respond to large, long-term global challenges. By using natural, sustainable raw materials, Borregaard produces advanced and environmentally friendly biochemicals, biomaterials and bio-ethanol to replace petroleum-based alternatives and thereby contribute to reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.

Develop the biorefinery concept

To retain its position as the world's most advanced biorefinery, Borregaard is dependent on developing the biorefinery concept by finding new bio rawmaterials, as well as new products and markets for biobased chemicals and materials with the highest value and best environmental profile. Borregaard is investing significant resources each year on this.
