R&D and technical support

As a consequence of the specialisation strategy Borregaard has high focus on research and development. Through R&D Borregaard ChemCell is constantly striving to increase the value of speciality cellulose to its customers.

During the last 20 years the main focus has been to develop new and improved speciality cellulose products tailor-made for production of cellulose ethers and cellulose acetate. The new products have been developed through close cooperation between our technical service managers, our R&D department and our key customers. As a supplement to these activities, Borregaard ChemCell also has close co-operation with several external institutes.

Our R&D capabilities includes possibility to simulate the entire cellulose production line in laboratory and pilot scale, as well as evaluation the quality of the developed products in our cellulose ether and cellulose acetate laboratories.

Close interaction with the other R&D teams of Borregaard, working on products like lignosulphonates and pharmaceutical intermediates, adds additional expertise as well as access to a range of advanced analytical equipment. This is part of what makes Borregaard unique within the cellulose industry.
